Full details confirmed as Boxing Day duck race returns to Kenilworth for 2024
Full details have been announced as the Boxing Day Duck Race returns to Kenilworth this week.
The free event is organised by Kenilworth Lions, and will start at 12noon on December 26 at the ford in Abbey Fields.
The event will see thousands of numbered plastic ducks race along Finham Brook.
Spectators can buy tickets corresponding to the number on the bottom of the ducks, with the first to cross the line winning £100 go to the lucky ticket holder.
£75, £50 and £25 will go to second, third and fourth respectively.
Tickets have been sold over the past few weeks and the final ones will be available on the day in Abbey Fields.
Kenilworth Lions will also be running its second corporate Duck Race, having first launched the initiative in 2021.
Using the larger decoy ducks, local businesses are encouraged to decorate their own entry.
With each costing £50, the extra race also raises a lot of money for the nominated charity of the winning duck.
The 2023 edition was the first to be held on Boxing Day since 2019.
The duck race was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic and the following year was pushed back to New Year's Day after the river was deemed unsafe. In 2022 it was cancelled due to the works on the Abbey Fields Leisure Centre.
