Kenilworth councillors continue to press for answers on when the spine road through a major new housing estate in the town will be finished.

Work continues at the 550-house estate at Leamington Road, after outline planning permission for the site was granted in 2021.

Since then, the estate has been broken up into sections and developed piecemeal.

As a result, the spine road has not been built in one clean sweep but has been broken up across multiple sections.

Speaking at the most recent Warwick District Council meeting, Cllr Andrew Milton said this has had a knock-on effect in the town.

"The development of the land east of Kenilworth has been split into multiple parts and phases over time," he said.

"As a result, residents living adjacent to the Kenilworth Gate development in particular have been living next door to a building site for around six years now.

"Other residents in Kenilworth suffering from the increased traffic the new sites have brought, do not have the relief from the proposed spine road through the development.

"Could you provide me and residents with an update on when we can expect progress and completion?"

Portfolio holder for housing, Cllr Jessica Melrose, gave a lengthy and technical response on the matter, explaining the road was being built in stages.

She explained discussions with Warwickshire County Council's highways team continued around the junction on the A452 and pedestrian access and other aspects of the construction.
