A Kenilworth flower farming business is set to start selling at a local coffee shop before launching the business fully next year.
Naomi Weetman has been growing flowers in her garden and selling them as 'Paintbox Blooms' from her house over the past few months as she gears up to launching a bigger flower farm next spring.
"My husband's family farm at East Chase Farm," she told Nub News.
"We have been looking at farm diversification and I have always known that I would get into farming at some point but I didn't know quite how.
"Then I got into gardening about six years ago and I have been working on growing from my garden.
"This year I have been selling from the house and next year I will be setting up a flower farm at my in-law's farm."
As well as growing and selling flowers from the Chase Lane Farm, she will also be planting a 'pick your own' area where customers will be able to come and fill a bucket with freshly-picked flowers.
Naomi is also hoping to join forces with a local yoga studio to run morning yoga and flower picking sessions on the weekends, and will be offering teas, cakes and coffees on site.
But as she continues to grow the business from home she has this week announced that her flowers will be available from Forrest Coffee House on Warwick Road.
"I have done a couple of pop up stalls on my driveway, I have orders placed that people have come and collected and from Friday I will be starting to sell from Forrest Coffee Shop," she said.
"I went to school with Alex [Clohessy] of Forrest and they store their coffee van at the farm.
"It's great having two small businesses supporting each other."
Mother-of-two Naomi also said that even with the farm months away, things were already progressing quickly.
"I didn't really know what to expect," she said.
"So far it has mainly been about getting my name out ahead of next year because I didn't want to invest in all the seeds and compost and bulbs and then only start to advertise when the flowers were blooming - it needed to be advertised prior.
"But it is all moving faster than I thought it would be!"
And she explained that what she is hoping to achieve at East Chase Farm is far more than just starting a new business.
"It is about supporting British farmers," she added.
"The amount of flowers imported from Africa and other countries further a field that are picked and some then sent to Holland which then eventually arrive at our supermarkets or florists weeks later having been given loads of chemicals.
"We will be growing perfectly good flowers throughout the growing season right here in England. It is doing what is right and is more sustainable as well."
