A driver was caught doing over 100mph after driving through Kenilworth this weekend having not realised they were being followed by police

Police in a marked car followed the driver through Kenilworth town centre yesterday (Sunday, December 13) where the driver was spotted doing 40mph in a 30mph limit.

They then proceeded to do 50mph in a 40mph limit before reaching 100mph on the A46 and being stopped by police.

A police spokesperson said "Earlier on in the evening we followed this Vauxhall (in a marked police vehicle) through Kenilworth town centre where it was seen to travel at 40 mph in a 30 mph limit before travelling at 50 mph in the 40 mph limit.

"The driver secured a hat trick of offences by hitting a speed of 100 mph on the A46.

"The driver was blissfully unaware of the police vehicle behind and, quite clearly, the posted speed limits. The driver has been reported to court."
