A national pub giant has said it was a "difficult decision" to sell a Kenilworth pub, which is due to close next month.

The Abbey Field on High Street announced last week it would close on November 2 ahead of an "exciting new chapter".

Part of the Chef & Brewer chain, the pub is owned by Greene King.

In a statement to Nub News, the hospitality group confirmed the building will be sold to a new operator.

A Greene King spokesperson said: "After exploring all the options available to us, we have made the difficult decision to sell the Abbey Field in Kenilworth.

"We understand the important role that pubs play within local communities, and we can confirm that the Abbey Field is set to transfer to new ownership in November to ensure the venue has the best chance to thrive moving forwards."

Greene King has not confirmed who will buy The Abbey Field.

In a statement last week, the pub said it will reopen in summer 2027.
