Motorists are being warned of further disruption on the A46 this weekend.

HS2 had lane closures in place last weekend, and more works are scheduled for the next two days.

The high speed rail developer was forced to push its August closures to the autumn as it completes "final safety, central reservation and utility work".

All the road closures and reduced speed limits will be removed once the works are complete.

On Saturday (October 4) and Sunday (October 5) the dual carriageway will be closed fully from Festival Island and Thickthorn Island between 8pm and 6am each night.

This will be repeated on Saturday 18 and on Sunday 19 October 8pm to 6am.

Then between 8pm and 6am on Monday 20 October, the southbound slip at Stoneleigh and two lanes south between Stoneleigh and Thickthorn will close.

"While we deliver the works there will be increased construction activity overnight, some additional noise and ongoing lane closures," HS2 said.

"Once complete all lanes of the A46 will be open.

"To ensure the safety of our workforce, we will be closing a section of the A46 from the Stivichall Interchange (Festival Island) to the Thickthorn Island (A452), and the southbound slip road at Stoneleigh."
