Warwick Road will not have new speed bumps installed, the county council has confirmed.

Following a public consultation in April, Warwickshire County Council has decided not to build the proposed speed humps and bumps along Kenilworth's thoroughfare.

The council has also confirmed that road works will be needed in early 2022 along Warwick Road.

WCC has said that the number of objections raised, as well as the relevant costs associated with the work mean that it will not take place.

A formal confirmation of this will be given in July.

A Warwickshire County Council statement to councillors said: "The consultation regarding the proposed traffic calming (speed humps) is now closed and the objections raised, scheme benefits, and funding required to complete the scheme have been reviewed by officers and the portfolio holder.

"It is recommended that the construction of traffic calming does not proceed and a report to ratify this recommendation will be presented to the portfolio holder in July, to finalise the statutory consultation process for the traffic calming and confirm that it will not be proceeding.

"The council will however look to undertake footway repairs and minor improvements in Warwick Road in early 2022, to assist in ensuring pedestrian safety."

No direct mention to the proposed 20mph speed limit has been made.
