Councillor reveals 'confidential' £10m plans to boost environmental standards of new Kenilworth homes

The former leader of Warwick District Council has been criticised for revealing confidential information that £10 million is set to be invested in putting the highest environmental standards into new council housing in Kenilworth.
Cllr Andrew Day said the figure at last week's full council meeting during discussion of financial priorities across council projects.
The Conservative leader had previously referred to that figure in June 2025, prompting leader Cllr Ian Davison to interject.
"I am utterly appalled that Cllr Day has again repeated a confidential piece of information when he knew that was the case because he did it before," he said.
Turning to monitoring officer Graham Leach, the council's most senior legal official, he asked: "What are you going to do about questions like that?"
While chair Cllr Neveen Tangri, Mr Leach and chief executive Chris Elliott deliberated, Cllr Day said: "It is in the public domain."
Mr Leach then said: "Without going into confidential session it would be very hard to discuss that further.
"I note the point the leader is making in terms of the confidentiality of figures, and other matters. Myself and the chief executive will discuss that with the chair but at the moment not take direct action."
His comments came as fellow Conservative councillor Rich Hales asked for faster progress on developing the two former Kenilworth School sites.
At the same meeting Cllr Day also quit the panel of councillors working to bring together the new South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP) calling it "a sham".
The former leader criticised other councillors on the committee, the lack of attendance and accused the Green-Labour leadership of "killing" the plan "at birth" by not listening to his concerns.
