The future of Warwick District Council's headquarters will now be discussed by its cabinet following a public consultation.

A ten week consultation revealed that over two thirds of residents supported the development of Riverside House.

Developments could see new housing built on the site, as well as better pedestrian and cycling access to the river. A new bridge across the river could also be built.

The council's brief states that this is: "An opportunity to lead the way with an exemplar, sustainable building and surrounding areas and

to enhance and update the image of the site."

An online survey as well as in person sessions with local groups and organisations were run to gather local feedback on proposals for the Milverton Hill building.

The survey also revealed that 20 per cent of people supported the council's current plans, and nearly half supported the plans with a few amendments.

Council leader Cllr Andrew Day said: "The future of this important site required new thinking, I am therefore pleased that we have received very positive feedback from our online sessions and have had the opportunity to have a constructive dialogue with a number of key stakeholders."

"On the back of the consultation officers have been able to update the brief to take into account the key issues raised, such as further provision of affordable housing, the retention of trees and green spaces and connectivity to the town and river. I look forward to the discussion at cabinet on the proposals."

The updated Draft Development Brief will go to the Cabinet meeting on 4 November 2021 for a decision.
