Kenilworth Town Council has launched a new partnership with Shakespeare's England to promote tourism to the town.

Hosted by Sarah Kershaw of Kenilworth Chamber of Trade, the council launched its new membership at the Kenilworth Centre last Thursday.

Helen Peters and her team from Shakespeare's England presented a range of benefits for the town which include wider publicity nationally and internationally, representation at trade shows, social media postings, invites to tourism forums and more.

The membership aims to get visitors to stay longer and enjoy the full range of experiences throughout the whole town.

The imitative has been driven by the council's tourism working group which is now focussing on organising itineraries to include Kenilworth's hidden nature trails, natural wonders, heritage and cultural experiences which will then be published on Shakespeare's England and the town council website.

The group meets five teams a year with local hospitality and tourism venues to show the best of what Kenilworth has to offer.

Speaking at last week's Kenilworth Town Council meeting group leader Cllr Alix Dearing said: "We had five or six smaller tourism venues and hospitality representatives at the launch.

"But the group is now in poll position to start encouraging other groups to start joining in.

"We have a fantastic opportunity to consolidate our efforts and really make Kenilworth an excellent tourism destination with the help of Shakespeare's England."

Any businesses which are tourist facing – hospitality, food, accommodation, services, specialist shops and transport – can complete the Shakespeare's England Attractions Template which can be obtained from the town council on [email protected]

The working group is also asking for residents to send in suggestions for the best places for visitors to go in Kenilworth. Feedback can be sent to [email protected]

Zoe Bell, of Grounds Farm Self Catering Accommodation added: "I think this is a great opportunity for tourist venues to be promoted more widely and help to create days out which all visitors to Kenilworth can enjoy."
