A consultancy company started by a working Kenilworth mum has celebrated its first anniversary.
Kindred CSR was started by Alison Phillips in November 2021 to help others and protect the planet.
With a background in the voluntary sector, Alison's personal values and beliefs have now been transferred to the private sector.
Last year Alison worked with a range of micro, SME and large enterprises in Coventry and Warwickshire and across the UK to get them to think differently about how they invest in their corporate social responsibility.
She also supported local charities with their business development, helping them to think about how they connect to local business to gain support and prosper.
To celebrate the first anniversary of running her own business, Alison is now looking at doing her own bit to 'give back' to the community.
Recently she began volunteering on the committee for the Kenilworth Chamber of Trade to help raise awareness and share tips on how local businesses can be more ethically focused.
She is also representing the chamber at the Kenilworth Climate Change Action Group to continue to encourage businesses to reduce their carbon footprint.
Alison said: "It's important that all businesses play their part in improving the wellbeing and environment of the people and communities they impact on, and that includes Kindred CSR.
"As a resident of Kenilworth, I'm really excited to be part of the local climate and societal projects happening in the town. I love to get to know people and I offer a free consultation for any business interested in being a force for good.
"It couldn't come at a better time either, as current trends and policies are pushing companies forward on their ethical and environmental behaviours. If people want to talk to me then I support them to deliver all the things they need to stay ahead of the competition."
As she looks to the future, Alison is excited about the business and it's growth. Her goal is to engage with more like-minded business owners to share her knowledge and expertise.
She wants to show them the benefits of investing in sustainability to become more purpose driven, competitive and profitable.
"I recently completed the B Leader programme that allows me to work more closely with businesses wanting to achieve B Copr status within deadlines.
"I also plan to develop a programme of workshops that allows start-ups and smaller businesses the opportunity to learn and change as a collective.
"This will then create a community of businesses who can showcase and share their innovative and creative ideas, as well as pool resources, signpost to further support, and make wider impactful changes."
Recent changes in global issues, local and sustainable procurement, consumer trends and recruiting from underserved backgrounds are driving sustainable and ethical good practice.
