Christmas Market open for local independents in Kenilworth this weekend

By James Smith 5th Aug 2021

A one-off Christmas Market for independent businesses is opening in Kenilworth this weekend as now, more than ever, we are being encouraged to shop local.

The Orangery florist shop, Talisman Square, Kenilworth, has been working hard since the beginning of November to set up a Christmas Market to give people "something to look forward to as we emerged from lockdown."

Running this Sunday (December 6) from 10am to 4pm at The Castle Pavilion, Castle Road, Kenilworth, 20 stalls will be available for shoppers to buy those special Christmas gifts for friends and family this year.

Speaking to Nub News, organisers said "We have decided to organise this event as it means that people can enjoy an event and help ease people into a Christmassy mood.

"The event is also to help local businesses in and around Warwickshire get together and sell their wares. We know as a business ourselves that has been shut through lockdown that it has been hard for people, and that they need things to lift their sales and improve people's mental health."

'Support local' has been the message of the season this year, as Kenilworth Chamber of Trade and other organisations are encouraging us to provide as much support as possible to Kenilworth businesses which have been affected by the second national lockdown.

The market is taking place at the land at The Castle Pavilion, Castle Road on the left of the red letterbox, and will be clearly signposted at the entrance on the day of the event.

As with all events in 2020, questions over Covid-19 restrictions have also had to be answered. "We are observing all government guidelines set out by environmental health. This means that we can only have 24 stands, we must observe social distancing and we will have hand sanitising stations at the entrance and exits of the event and throughout the market."
