Children and PTA at Kenilworth primary school donate gift boxes to those in need this Christmas
Members of the PTA at St Nicholas Primary School Kenilworth have this year donated gift boxes to vulnerable people in the town
Every year the PTA at St Nicholas' organise a Christmas raffle to raise money for the PTA. This year they have been raising money through their '12 days of Christmas raffle' for an eco scooter shed.
However, this year the PTA have gone one step further to help support local, vulnerable people this Christmas.
With the help of Covid-19 Kenilworth Support Group and Molly's Meals, the parents and St Nicholas' have made gift boxes for individuals who have been receiving meals this festive period.
These boxes include donations of homemade mince pies, fudge, marmalade and decorations, as well as soaps, chocolates, oranges, a Christmas face mask donated & made locally, a St Nicholas School tea towel, a plant, plus a bottle of wine donated by The Engine pub.
The Engine has been supporting Molly's Meals throughout 2020, and donated the meals that were delivered alongside the boxes this weekend.
PTA member Debbie Docker said to Kenilworth Nub News "we wanted to give something back to the community.
"Mollys meals already deliver a hot meal to these people daily ensuring they're not alone but we wanted to also add something more personal.
"We've therefore used part of the funds raised to make up 11 gift boxes for this people."
Mayor of Kenilworth Cllr Richard Dickson went to St Nicholas' at the end of last week to take collection of the boxes on behalf of the Covid Group.
Molly's Meals then delivered the boxes over the weekend.
This latest fundraising and community outreach comes shortly after the PTA at St Nicholas' hosted their third annual Christmas Window Walk which saw houses decorated across the town, and maps sold to help raise money for the school's new eco shed.
