Chair of Warwickshire Pride wins 'Volunteer of the Year' at Gaydio Awards 2026

The Chair of Warwickshire Pride has won 'Volunteer of the Year' at the highly-anticipated Gaydio Awards 2026 as it returned for the fourth year.
Daniel, who has been supporting and working for Warwickshire Pride for 15 years, was recognised for his commitment, raising over £500,000 and for helping to create safe and inclusive spaces in rural areas for LGBTQ+ people to celebrate their identities.
Daniel shared: "Being nominated was a surprise, so to win was even more surprising. Volunteers are the backbone of charities and especially in the LGBTQ+ charity sector, which is generally underfunded, under-supported, and facing huge challenges such as rising hate and funders and sponsors pulling support. I often forget that I am a volunteer as I'm so focused on doing the work, but to be recognised is a nice feeling and something I am incredibly grateful for.
"There is a whole team of volunteers at Warwickshire Pride, all doing fantastic work for local LGBTQ+ people, so I dedicate the award to all of them."
The shortlists were honoured at a glitzy ceremony on 20 March 2026 at the Manchester Deansgate Hotel.
This category recognises a pride or charity volunteer who has dedicated their own time to deliver positive change for the LGBTQ+ community
Kriss Herbert, Network Content Director at Gaydio added: "Four years on, the Gaydio Awards continue to uncover the incredible work happening in communities across the UK that might otherwise go unrecognised.
"This year's shortlist - from volunteer organisers to pioneering charities, grassroots media to inclusive sports clubs represents the best of what happens when the community come together to create change. We can't wait to honour our nominees on the night."
