Councillors will next week discuss plans to renovate the play area at Kenilworth's Castle Farm.

A report set to go before Warwick District Council's cabinet says the play area has some of the oldest equipment in the area and it needs replacing.

"We are seeking to improve the quality of its green spaces throughout Warwick district," the council's report said.

"This is to ensure that everyone has access to high quality public open spaces within 15-minutes' walk of their home that are defined as 'good' by the Green Flag self-assessment criteria."

The council will also consider renovating the equipment at Mill Garden in Warwick which are due to happen first.

Drainage works are site at Castle Farm are due to happen first - in May 2025.

An exact timeline has not been outlined, with a contractor also yet to be decided.

The report continued: "The area surrounding new leisure centre, including the play area, has had little investment over the past few years and is starting to show signs of age that the new building highlight and contradict.

"Castle Farm, along with other destination park play areas has some of the oldest play equipment across the district compared to the other 59 sites, and they are showing their age."

It also says the "play experience is lacking".

The equipment and the surfacing would be replaced.

Cabinet will vote next Thursday (December 5) whether to press ahead with the works or not.
