A 'careless' Audi driver who left a motorcyclist with multiple fractures after a crash has been banned from driving for a year and ordered to carry out 120 hours of supervised unpaid work.

The incident on Broad Lane, Tanworth-in-Arden saw the 32-year-old driver fail to spot the bike rider coming towards him as he made a right turn into Beoley Lane across him.

The motorcyclist, 58, collided with the side of his car and was thrown up into the air hitting his head as he landed.

They suffered serious injuries including multiple fractures and injuries requiring ongoing rehabilitative therapy.

The incident took place at around 11am on 16 March 2024.

The unnamed driver, from Knowle, was sentenced at Coventry Magistrates Court on 22 January 2025.

DC Sam Bates of Warwickshire Police said: "This shows how important it is for drivers to keep their full attention on the road at all times and to always look at least twice for bikers especially at junctions.

"Motorcyclists are not as visible as four wheels and we need drivers to take more care and consideration around them to help keep them safe."
