"If I had £1 for every time I saw temporary traffic lights, I would be a very wealthy person."

That is the message from a Kenilworth councillor who has called for an update on the "continuing traffic chaos" around the town.

Cllr Adrian Marsh's words came at last week's full Kenilworth Town Council meeting where members agreed to ask Warwickshire County Council for reassurances on roadworks, traffic lights and temporary closures around the area.

"I am concerned at the continuing traffic chaos that residents of Kenilworth are experiencing," Cllr Marsh said.

"The 'bridge to nowhere' I don't see any further movement on that; [there are] dangers being created by developments - there is a prime example on Crewe Lane and now Glasshouse Lane.

"There just appears to be a lack of professional competence coming from the department that is supposed to be responsible for ensuring highways are safe for residents.

"It is all very well 'it is going to be dealt with' but I would welcome an opportunity for us to invite the highways portfolio holder to come and explain to us what steps are being taken by those responsible for the highways in this town.

"If I had a £1 for every time I saw temporary traffic lights, I would be a very wealthy person."

Town councillors unanimously voted in favour of asking the portfolio holder for highways at the county council to come and answer questions on the state of local roads.

Whats the matter with the Council or County Council officers, the Road infrastructure completion before development started should have been a condition of development approval.
And with the new properties in Crew Lane now in occupation and walking up the lane late in the day without visible clothing and any attention to the highway code is an accident waiting to happen

We just play the "which road in Kenilworth is closed today" game. I feel for the shopkeepers and small businesses but it is making getting in and out really hard and has been like this for all of 2025. And people wonder why online shopping is so popular.

After tolerating months of 4 way traffic lights on Glasshouse lane we are left with a junction that has already resulted in a number of incidents and is a serious accident waiting to happen. The bend is too sharp and narrow and should have been an island which was the origional plan.
