The annual cyclo-cross race is set to return to Kenilworth Common for 2023 on Boxing Day (December 26).

The traditional festive event has been held for the last two years having been cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Organised by the Coventry Road Club, this year's will be the 69th instalment of the race.

The event is expected to see one lane of Common Lane closed during the day for the oldest cyclo-cross race in the UK.

As in previous years, riders are expected start at the centre of the lower common, before heading out onto the roads and up Common Lane.

They will then be challenged to navigate the tricky descents through the woods and through the mud.

The event will start at 11am for under 10's, followed by under 12's at 11.15am.

The main event will then get underway from 12noon and will last an hour.

And organisers are also on the hunt for more volunteers to help mark out the course.

"Could you spare a few hours on Boxing Day to support the longest running cyclocross race in the country?" organisers said on social media.

"We need help to set up Kenilworth Common in the morning, marshal or both.

"It's a great addition to any Christmas (plus free mince pies)."
