Balsall Common butcher forced to close after car smashes through newly refurbished shop

A Balsall Common butcher shop could remain closed until January after a car crashed through the front of the premises.
Eric Lyons Butchers was hit by a car today (Wednesday, November 4), just two days after reopening following refurbishment work.
In a video shared on the business's social media page, Nick Lyons reassured customers that everyone involved was safe.
"Everyone is safe. Please do not worry," he said.
He explained that the car had travelled through "90 per cent of the shop", with a customer inside at the time alongside two members of staff.
The customer was at the back of the shop, while the two employees were behind the butcher's counter.
The business warned it would "probably be closed till January".
However, customers can still place orders for collection from Knowle and Bentley Heath, with the business also exploring options to continue trading during the Christmas period.
Nick encouraged people to continue supporting small businesses and thanked Monica's Bakes for providing coffees to staff following the incident.
Warwickshire Police attended the scene.
The shop had only reopened on Monday, November 2, after temporarily closing for refurbishment.
A notice previously displayed at the premises told customers the work would make the store "even better" for shoppers.
Customers can continue to shop at the Knowle and Bentley Heath stores in the meantime.
