The back garden of a Kenilworth home could be turned into a dog daycare business, if plans are signed off by the district council.

'Kenilwoof Canine Castle' has applied for planning permission to repurpose the garden on Turton Way for the business.

Plans also include a "summerhouse style building" to house the dogs and a secondary gate to make it harder for the pets to escape.

The application to Warwick District Council said the business will run Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm, for the prearranged care of up to six dogs.

Dogs would only be on site for three-and-a-half hours per day, with the operating times including pick up and drop off of the animals.

The 'daycare' aspect of the business at Turton Way would run from 11.30am to 3pm, with the dogs taken for a countryside walk in the morning after being collected.

The business will also offer board for one dog per night.

"There is a cabin on site for the dogs to have protection from the elements as well as for resting after exercise and for feeding, if required," the application explained.

"This will also double up as a management space for the owner/carer to keep up with the management of the business."

It added: "The outdoor area (garden) will be used for exercise and play for the dogs, it is expected that the dogs will be in that area all day except for 90 minutes when the dogs will be offsite for exercise.

"There is a two gate system, in line with licensing, for extra security when transferring the dogs form a vehicle into the area."
