Kenilworth Chess Club have won four trophies across the Leamington and Coventry Leagues, capping off the club's best ever season.

For the first time ever, Kenilworth reached all three Leamington League Cup Finals, winning the open and intermediate competitions against Olton and Banbury respectively.

Andrew Paterson and 12 year old Jude Shearsby were victorious for the open team, while Phil Wood and Rod Webb were winners for the intermediate team.

Despite a fine win by Hector Smith, though, the Minor Cup Final was lost to Solihull, as the club just missed out on a clean sweep.

Kenilworth's A team had already successfully defended its Division One title, going undefeated through the season and finishing seven points clear at the top of the table.

This was a 12th championship for the club.

There was also success in the Coventry League KO Cup Final, as the Kenilworth team of Andrew Paterson, Mark Page, Mike Donnelly and Ben Graff edged out Coventry A on tie break.

The club then just missed out on its first ever Coventry League Division one title, losing the final match of the season against Warwick University in dramatic circumstances, when a draw would have secured the championship.
