The Kenilworth Advent Calendar will launch in November but this year some things have changed.

This great project, originally set up by Kenilworth Rotary Club in has been passed on to the Kenilworth and District Soroptimists.

The group has taken on the challenge with enthusiasm.

How does it work?

The calendar works like any other Advent Calendar – there is a door to open for each day of the month of December and behind each door will be four prizes donated by the huge generosity of local businesses.

December 24 has a Star Prize.

Each prize has a number and if the prize number matches with the number on the your calendar, you are a winner.

Choosing the design

The "beautiful" design of the calendar was chosen after the challenge was given to art students at Kenilworth School and Sixth Form.

The winning image was chosen by a panel of Soroptimists who finally settled on a painting of Kenilworth High Street at Christmas time, which, everyone agreed, epitomised the magic of Christmas in Kenilworth.

The young artist is Maddy Towle, who also received a prize of £50 voucher for art materials which was awarded to her at the Soroptimists meeting at Holiday Inn in July.

A great community project

This ambitious project has been made possible by sponsorship from Eclipse Electrical Kenilworth Ltd, James Moore & Co Jewellers, Halo Electrical, PHINIA Delphi UK Ltd, Aquarius Interiors Ltd, Smith's Garden Centre, Tree Wise Men, CEF, Brookline Cars Ltd., and Boothroyd & Co.

Technical support has been donated by the media company Loudlocal and production of the calendars has been supported generously by Abstract Design and Emerson Press
