Celebrations for Burns Night, Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day have all been held at Waverley as the centre has been busy enjoying fun, friendship and food since returning from Christmas.

The year's events got underway with Burns Night, with a traditional Scottish-themed lunch in celebration of the Baird Robert Burns.

Chef Sue as usual made a lovely lunch that the Waverley Road centre's clients really enjoyed.

Not long after Burns Night, Waverley was "extremely honoured" to welcome Mayor of Kenilworth Cllr Alan Chalmers to its Chinese New Year themed day, celebrating the Year of the Snake.

Waverley is "delighted" to be the mayor's chosen charity and is "grateful for his continued support".

A lovely, themed lunch was made, and clients enjoyed engaging with the major in learning some Chinese through Google translate which ended up with some interesting dialogue happening!

Love was then in the air at Waverley as the team enjoyed the sweet treats made by Sue for Valentine's Day in February.

There have also been several birthdays over the past few weeks, giving the team the chance for more cake!

Manager Anne Cross had her birthday and in pure Country Western ended with a sing along which everybody enjoyed.

"After all those celebrations and treats, Fiona from Love to Move put us through our paces, both physically and mentally this week and reenergised us for next month's celebrations and activities," the team said.

Waverley has been providing food and friendship to older citizens in Kenilworth for over 40 years.

"There are so many benefits to getting out and about and feeling part of what is going on.," the team said.

"Waverley members come together to enjoy a two-course lunch and a variety of activities surrounded by staff and volunteers."

"For many of the members a visit to Waverley has become part of their weekly routine, something to look forward to and new friendships made.

"Why not consider giving a visit to Waverley a try or maybe you have elderly relative or neighbour who might enjoy the experience. "

Transport is available within the local area - spaces permitting.
