'The best adult decision I've ever made' - Kenilworth business owners' incredible gym transformation

A local business owner said joining a Kenilworth gym and using a personal trainer is one of the "best adult decisions" he has ever made.
Mat Bromley first went to Fitness Worx three years ago, looking to get back into shape after the birth of his first child.
Since then, he has been a regular at the Common Lane gym, now going three to five times a week, and making the most of a personal trainer for a series of sessions at least once a year.
"We just had our first child, and it was that stage in life where I needed to do something in order to feel a little bit more energized, lose some weight, and also do a little bit of something for myself as well," the former English teacher told Nub News.
"And I think it'd be fair to say that it's probably one of the best adult decisions I've ever made.
"It's a cliché to say it was quite transformative."

Mat, who owns Castle Nursery with his wife Sarah, was a complete gym novice before he went to Fitness Worx for the first time.
Ahead of his first session he was nervous about entering what he assumed would be a very judgmental, intimidating environment.
But he found the team and the other customers at Fitness Worx were welcoming, encouraging and eager to make the gym a real community environment.
"I was really self-conscious when I started coming," he explained.
"That induced quite a lot of anxiety.
"But it was not what I expected at all, everyone was really welcoming, there was no unsought-for advice or anything like that, it was a really nice community-based environment, and still is, and that's what I really value and get out of it."

Mat was also impressed with the attention to detail of his personal trainers - having used different ones over the years - and how their support does not just stop when he leaves the gym.
Having been taken through everything from functional skills and technique in the gym, to nutrition and lifestyle changes at home, he felt he had been "given all the tools" to make some real progress.
"I think there is a balance to be struck between discipline and pushing someone to reach the goals that the PT knows that you can reach," Mat continued.
"They make you suitably exhausted by the end of it, and you feel like you've done a good workout.
"But they are also compassionate and kind, and know the context of why someone is putting themselves in a little bit of a vulnerable position when they come and meet someone brand new.
"They get that balance really well here."

The Kenilworth gym is one of eight run by Fitness Worx, and was the first launched by owners Jack and Richard Gibson in 2014.
The Common Lane site has recently undergone a major £250,000 transformation, with a community open day held at the start of April.
Now open once again, the gym is offering completely bespoke training plans, tailored to fit the individuals' goals, fitness levels and lifestyle.
"Whether someone is looking to lose fat, build strength, or improve overall fitness, our expert coaches will create a plan that works for them," sales director Chris Bryniarski said.
"Our programmes don't just focus on training – we also provide nutrition guidance to help fuel the body correctly and maximise results. To track progress effectively, we include body stats assessments, allowing us to monitor changes in weight, muscle mass, and body fat percentage.
"We offer cost-effective packages ranging from four to 12 weeks, all of which include a free gym membership, so the client has everything they need to stay consistent.
"Our experienced coaches are dedicated to keeping clients motivated and ensuring they get the most out of every session."
Before starting a programme, the client is invited for a free consultation to discuss goals, a strategy to fit their needs, and of course a tour of the gym.
And for those wondering whether a package at Fitness Worx is really for them, Mat encouraged locals to find out more.

"I can't speak highly enough of my experience coming here," he said.
"I would tell people to just look at the barriers that are stopping them starting at the gym.
"There are certain stereotypes, certain things that you can tell yourself of why it's not a good reason, but Fitness Worx doesn't fit that trend.
"I think it's a really positive, community-based environment, and it's a kind of an every man and woman environment where they can come and feel comfortable and take it at the pace that they want to take it.
"So whether that's to come and kind of do some stretches or some functional skills on the astro part, or whether it is to do something really exciting with CrossFit or strength training or conditioning, it's an environment where anybody's goals can be met."
