Number of Covid-19 deaths in district hits 300

More than 300 people in Warwick district have now died from Covid-19 according to the latest government data.

In the week leading up to February 4 another six residents passed away with Covid-19 on their death certificates, bringing the local total up to 303.

As of Tuesday, February 15 there were 18 patients in South Warwickshire hospitals with the virus, with one on a ventilator bed.

However, across Kenilworth infection rates have dropped in the last month.

In Kenilworth official government data shows seven-day infection rates are highest in Kenilworth West at 655.5 per 100,000 up to February 14 - nearly half the 1,030.1 in the week before January 16.

In Kenilworth East the rate is currently at 488.0 compared to 1,226.2 per 100,000 at the start of the month.

Similarly Kenilworth South has fallen from 942.2 per 100,000 people to 520.3 in two weeks.

Across the district 321,000 vaccinations have now been administered to people aged 12 and above.
