The owner of Kenilworth's Virgins and Castle pub has opened its new venture in Warwick - No.34 Garden and Grill.

Formerly known as the Racehorse, the Stratford Road pub has been taken over by Midlands-based hospitality firm Caviar & Chips.

After a formal opening ceremony led by Mayor of Warwick Cllr Richard Edgington, the pub welcomed members of the public in during its opening night last Thursday.

Free food and live music were both on offer and the pub was packed from start to finish.

The Warwick venue had struggled to recover from the pandemic meaning landlords Everards Brewery had to step in and bring in temporary management until new owners were found.

Caviar & Chips, which has run the Virgins and Castle since March 2020, were given the reins and decided to change the name and bring in a new concept.

"No.34 because its address is 34 Stratford Road in the CV34 postcode," explained co-founder Jonathan Carter-Morris.

"And Garden & Grill as we're going to create two fantastic, seasonal menus that are reflective of what people are looking for in a great restaurant experience."

As the name suggests one menu will be from the garden and one from the grill served in the backdrop of a restaurant that works in a sustainable way.

Caviar & Chips said there will all be a "focus on doing the right things – being a great place to work, a place to visit and a business that looks after its community."

Having spent two weeks refurbishing the pub it is now fully open once again - click here to see a gallery of images of the new interior.
