The Kenilworth branch of Halifax will close between September and November this year it had been announced today.

Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed the closure of 44 branches nationally, including 15 from Halifax and 29 from Lloyds.

The Kenilworth branch, at 50 The Square, is reportedly closing because it has seen fewer transactions in the last five years.

Retail director for Lloyds Banking Group Vim Maru said: "Like many businesses on the high street, we must change for a future where branches will be used in a different way, and visited less often."

Following the closures, the group will have 779 Lloyds Bank branches, 560 Halifax branches, and 184 Bank of Scotland branches.

Kenilworth's closest Halifax branches will now be on The Parade in Leamington Spa and on High Street in Coventry city centre.
