The latest update on the £38 million A46 Stoneleigh Island works has been released by Warwickshire County Council.

Having started in December 2020, the works will continue until at least summer 2022 and will see a new roundabout, and bridge built at the site.

Through December work continued on the northbound off slip, the current bridge, the southbound off slip and the Westley Bridge construction.

A week of overnight closures has been announced by WCC for final preparations before the new southbound exit slip road can open.

The northbound entry slip road will also be tarmacked during the closures

The earthworks to build the new link road from the Dalehouse Lane roundabout to the A46 Bridge has now been completed, and the actual road is now being built.

The foundations for the new Westley Bridge are now well underway with concrete and steel pile caps almost complete on either side.

The Northbound Off Slip, which has been closed since November 30th, is now being "re-aligned" which means "in effect, moving it closer towards the A46" according to WCC.

A new embankment needs to be built for this to happen, meaning all the vegetation and topsoil in the area have been removed.

The steel beams for the new A46 bridge, delivered in December, are now all on their trestles.
