Arrests made in Kenilworth as part of Warwickshire Police anti drink and drug campaign
Arrests have been made in Kenilworth over the weekend as part of Warwickshire Police's winter campaign to minimise the number of motorists drinking under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
The first arrest in Kenilworth was made on Friday, December 4 after a three vehicle collision on Warwick Road, Kenilworth at 6.30pm.
A police spokesperson has said "officers breath tested the drivers involved and a 37-year-old woman from Kenilworth was arrested and later charged with drink driving. She is due to appear at Warwickshire magistrates court in Leamington Spa on 22 December."
Warwickshire Police's campaign began on Tuesday, December 1 and saw two men arrested, one in Leamington and one in Brinklow on the first day.
"Warwickshire Police will be publicising arrests made during December for drink or drug driving as a way of demonstrating how officers are being proactive in targeting people suspected of drink or drug driving.
"This is part of a campaign aimed at changing people's behaviour and reducing the number of people killed and seriously injured on the county's roads."
Another arrest was made in Kenilworth yesterday (December 7).
"A 20-year-old man from Coventry was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of cannabis."
He was arrested at 1.00am "after he was seen driving in Kenilworth and his vehicle was stopped by officers on London Road, Coventry. He has been released under investigation."
If you suspect a drink or drug driver on the road, please report it to us by calling 101 or 999 if a suspected offence is in progress.
