Residents are encouraged to 'Buy Your Gifts in Kenilworth' at Saturday's (December 11) Christmas market.

Hosted by Kenilworth Town Council and CJ's Events, the market will see some 30 independent businesses set up shop in Talisman Square from 10am to 4pm.

And with the Christmas light switch on cancelled due to Storm Arwen two children's rides and music from brass bands will also be in Abbey End.

Mayor of Kenilworth Cllr Peter Jones: "Let's hope the weather is kind on Saturday.

"The hard work of the town centre working group on the town council deserves our support, and I am looking forward to judging the shop window competition in the morning, followed by some nifty gift purchases in Talisman Square and nearby streets."

Cllr Jones and Jeremy Wright MP will open the market and then take a tour of the town centre to view the entries for the annual shop window competition.

And as the council continues to promote active transport there will also be secure parking and security tagging for bicycles in Talisman Square.

The first 100 people to cycle to the market will receive a free coffee voucher to be used in selected cafés in the town centre.

Entertainment will also be provided by the Pop Voices Choir.

As the town prepares for Christmas the empty 'hospice' shop in Abbey End will be decorated with a crib and some of the Christmas trees from St Nicholas church.

There will also be free car parking at Abbey End car park on the day.

The full list of stalls can be found on the CJ's website.
