We're supporting a well-established engineering manufacturer as it hires a Business Development Manager to grow its business with key OEM and industrial customers across the UK and Continental Europe. The company has a strong reputation in its field, a stable UK base and a full training programme, and it is investing in growth.

The role

• Build and deliver a sales strategy for named OEM and industrial accounts across the UK and Europe
• Find new projects, build a pipeline and convert it into design wins
• Work closely with engineering teams on customer technical discussions
• Grow existing accounts and introduce products customers don't yet buy
• Open new accounts and build relationships at several levels
• Provide accurate forecasts, market insight and competitor analysis
• Visit customers and attend trade shows and technical days

How you'll be measured Pipeline conversion to design wins, revenue against budget, forecast accuracy and overdue receivables recovery. You'll report to a senior sales leader and be trusted to run your own territory, with the expectation that you deliver.

About you

• At least 5 years selling engineered products or technical solutions to OEMs
• A good grasp of long sales cycles, design-in processes and project-led selling
• Credible with engineering, procurement and commercial stakeholders
• An engineering degree or equivalent technical background is preferred
• A self-starter who plans their own diary and pipeline, and is comfortable travelling regularly to customers across the UK and Europe (up to 80% of your time)
• Energetic, resilient and a natural relationship builder
