Waverley Day Centre we be open to the public again from April 14

A Kenilworth Day Centre, which has been shut since January, 'can't wait' to reopen next week following the announcement that the UK Government's roadmap will continue as planned.

Waverley Day Centre, alongside community centres across the country will be allowed to reopen from Monday (April 12) as the UK reaches phase two of the roadmap out of lockdown.

Warwickshire County Council officials dismantled the parklet today

Officials from Warwickshire County Council have today (April 8) dismantled Kenilworth's 'pocket park' on High Street, due to a lack of a pavement licence and due to 'concerns around safety'.

Also known as 'parklets', a number of these small sitting spaces have been erected across the town over the past few months; including outside Leaders Estate Agents, near Waitrose, and the one on High Street.

Business leaders in Coventry and Warwickshire have welcomed the latest easing of Covid-19 restrictions being lifted that will allow more businesses to open up from Monday (April 12).

The Prime Minister announced that the roadmap out of restrictions was still on course which means that some sections of the economy can reopen such as non-essential retail, gyms, hairdressers and hospitality venues that serve food and drink outside.

A socially-distanced and small raising of the cross was possible this year

In compliance with the 'Rule of six' and specific police instructions, members of Churches Together in Kenilworth and District (CTKD) were able to quietly raise the cross on Abbey Hill very early on Good Friday morning.

Whilst no ceremony nor display were allowed, church leaders Christine Flood, Val Whiteman, Father Kevin Hooper, George Jones, Revd Jim Perryman and Keith Grierson were able to raise the cross and say prayers for the community and the nation. They then quietly and quickly dispersed.
