Italian restaurant chain Zizzi has confirmed it will close its Kenilworth branch this year.

Fears for the eatery's future surfaced last month when an advert for its grade II listed site at The Square appeared on a local estate agent's website.

The advert with Bromwich Hardy said the town centre restaurant will be available for a new business to rent from August 2024.

And now Zizzi - which is part of the Azzuri Group - has confirmed the branch will close.

Staff will be offered jobs at the chain's neighbouring restaurants.

Phil Boyd, operations director, said: "Zizzi Kenilworth will be closing its doors this summer.

"We have enjoyed our time in Kenilworth getting to know the locals and sharing good times over delicious food.

"All our wonderful staff from the Kenilworth restaurant will be offered positions at our neighbouring restaurants and we fully aim to retain all of our team to other restaurants within the Zizzi group.

"We welcome customers from Kenilworth and the surrounding local areas to come and find us closeby in Leamington Spa or Coventry."

An exact closing date has not been confirmed, and Zizzi did not provide a reason for the closure.
