Town councillors continue to call on their district colleagues to find a solution to predicted parking problems at Abbey Fields.

Kenilworth's new swimming pools are due to open next year, but members at Kenilworth Town Council have warned the new facility will cause issues for motorists around the park.

Members have already written to Warwick District Council (WDC) to ask for a solution, with a response this month saying the local authority is waiting for its new car parking strategy to be completed.

But speaking at last week's town council meeting, members said WDC needs to find an answer before the pools open, not after.

Cllr Andrew Milton said: "It is actually quite interesting hearing the responses from them [WDC].

"When we raised the issue with them when it went through planning, we were all assured it was not going to be a problem, it was all going to be fine.

"The district council are now telling us it is going to be a problem and 'we haven't got a solution'. I think we should be very weightily putting the onus back on them to sort this out."

He continued: "I think we really should be putting the onus back on the district council to make it clear to them - you told us this wouldn't be a problem, you are now telling us it is a problem, what are you going to do about it?"

Cllr Richard Dickson also raised the issue at the most recent WDC meeting, calling on Cllr Jim Sinnott, portfolio holder for safer, healthier and active communities to work to a solution.

In response Cllr Sinnott, said he would "happily take up" the task.
