Works fully underway again at A46 Stoneleigh junction
By James Smith 17th Feb 2026
Progress continues on the A46 Stoneleigh junction, Warwickshire County Council has confirmed.
An update has been shared by the local authority as works to connect the 'bridge to nowhere' resumed this year.
The update said: "Recent weeks have seen the A46 site prepare for the installation of the new wingwalls.
"This includes excavations around the new bridge which are somewhat visible from the A46 northbound and southbound carriageways.
"These excavations have necessitated the first lane closures on both carriageways, to ensure the safety of those working nearby.
"We continue to work with HS2 to minimise disruption to the network and to drivers, particularly in advance of their planned closure of Dalehouse Lane."
The latest publicly-available financial estimate for the overdue and over budget work is £57 million – 50 per cent more than initially budgeted for.
The junction is now due for completion in summer 2027.
