Here are our top picks for the coming days:

1. Kenilworth Books

Much-loved independent business Kenilworth Books will be celebrating its 55th anniversary this weekend with a special party.

The shop has been at the heart of the town since May 1968.

And on Sunday, May 21, the shop will open its doors between 11am and 3pm for a party, complete with face painting, musicians and, in a typically quirky twist, a visit from some friendly alpacas.

The shop was opened first by Norman Stevens, but is now owned and managed by Judy Brook who bought the shop in 2014.

2. The BIG FIX

The BIG FIX is back, and this time it's even bigger and better!

Running throughout the whole of May, The BIG FIX has one aim – to fix and breathe new life into as many broken things as possible.

The event, coordinated by Recycle Devon, sees skilled menders fix broken items such as electronics, garden equipment, clothing, jewellery, clocks and much more to give them a new lease of life.

Due to its huge success, The BIG FIX event is now nationwide across the British Isles for the third time, with over 77 Repair Cafés in Great Britain taking part.

Repair Café Kenilworth will be joining in, with its next café on Saturday 20 May (2-5pm at Abbey Hill United Reformed Church).

Locals are welcome to drop in with their items for repair and, working with the volunteers, see how to fix it.

More details here.

3. Waiting For God

And the performances continue at the Priory Theatre with 'Waiting for God' which runs from Saturday, May 20 until Saturday 27.

The stage adaptation of the 90's BBC sitcom features all the characters from the original series, facing the challenges that come with growing old disgracefully in the era of the silver surfer.

Thrown together by circumstance, two spirited residents of Bayview Retirement Village, a stuffy seniors home where stepping out of line is strictly frowned upon, form an alliance and begin to give the home's oppressive management a run for their money
