Warwickshire officer arrested on suspicion of rape now suspended
A Warwickshire Police officer who was arrested on suspicion of rape has now been suspended.
The force had originally moved the sergeant to a non-public facing role following their arrest on Tuesday 22 July.
An update issued today (11 August) said the unnamed man has now been suspended.
An investigation began on Sunday 20 July after the incident was reported.
The officer was released on bail with appropriate conditions while enquiries continue.
"The suspension status of any officer under investigation remains under continuous review and the sergeant has now been suspended," Warwickshire Police said.
"As a force, we expect the highest standards from all our officers, staff and volunteers and where there are concerns or allegations these aren’t being met, our Professional Standards Department will investigate thoroughly.
"We are committed to being open and transparent around such processes and will share more information when appropriate."
