Vaccine uptake in district remains high, whilst latest Covid figures show a slight increase

The latest Covid-19 infection figures for Warwick district have shown a slight increase, whilst the vaccine uptake in the area remains high.

Latest gov.uk statistics indicate that last week (March 13-19) there were 72 reported cases in the district - an increase of 13 on the week before. This translates to 50 cases per 100,000 people.

This brings the total number of infections in the area to 7,040 as we passed the one year anniversary of the first national lockdown yesterday (March 23).

However, positive news continues to come from the local vaccination program; from the Local Vaccination Centre in Leek Wootton, and the Mass Vaccination Centre at Stoneleigh Park.

As of March 14, 41,178 over 55-year-olds in the district had received their vaccinations; this is an uptake of 87% in those age groups.

This combined with younger people with underlying health conditions, or whom are carers, and the total number of first doses in the Warwick district has now reached 58,981.
