Police have now reopened the A46 northbound from Leek Wootton after a "serious" collision involving a lorry and a van this morning.

The driver of the van has been taken to hospital with "serious injuries".

The road had been closed northbound between the A452 and the A429 following the crash at 5am this morning.

The carriageway has now reopened, but Highways England has reported long queues back towards Warwick through the contraflow.

Warwickshire Police and fire crews from Kenilworth and Leamington had been called to the scene.

Police statement

A Warwickshire Police statement said: "The A46 near Leek Wootton has now reopened, following a collision between a van and a lorry at around 5am this morning.
