19th Dec 2020 | Local News
Kenilworth Nub News aims to be supportive to every element of the community, from businesses, shops, and people, to charities, clubs and sports organisations.
We will be profiling some of these local businesses, and groups regularly over the coming weeks in a feature called 'Up Close With'
So far, we have spoken to five different people during this series, finding out about their lives, their businesses, and their experiences of Kenilworth.
Today we are going to have a quick look back at the first five in the series, in case you missed any of them.
Tony Hobson and Fosse Way Brewing Company
At the end of October we spoke to Tony Hobson, owner and Senior Brewer at Fosse Way Brewing Company, the 6,5 BBL brewery based in Offchurch.
Originally called the 'Long Itch Brewery,' and then 'Lemming Brewery,' Tony rebranded the business after he purchased it in 2017.
Tony will be familiar to shoppers at Kenilworth, Warwick, and Leamington markets, where he sells his produce every week to local residents.
Having travelled across the globe as a professional brewer, Tony has now returned to Warwickshire as he adds another chapter to his interesting life story.

Natalie Thurman Art and Photography
Many people in Kenilworth will now be familiar with Natalie's work, her photographs of the castle at sunset, her book 'Kenilworth in Pictures' as well as the watercolour paintings that she is now doing by commission.
However, few people will probably know about her journey to becoming a professional artist.
Having wanted to be a cartoonist as a child, Natalie gave up on her dream, following a career in account management.
It wasn't until her family moved to Qatar that she was able to rediscover her passion for photography.

Sarah-Jane Perry
If you google Kenilworth's famous residents, undoubtedly Sarah-Jane Perry will be amongst the top ten results.
The British Number One and World Number Six female squash player, SJ truly is one of the biggest names in the sport.
The glamour that comes with being an international sports star does not seem to have changed her though, and she still remains close to her roots, living in Kenilworth.
We chatted to Sarah-Jane about her career to date, and her life in Warwickshire.

Samaritans Pre-Loved Emporium
Whilst our article on the opening of Kenilworth's latest charity shop, 'Pre-Loved Emporium' wasn't actually an Up Close With, we thought it was still worth sharing again.
Friends Katie Best and Melissa Humphreys have opened their own charity shop this month in aid of Samaritans.
2020 has been a hard year for everyone in many ways, none more so than the affect that the pandemic has had on people's mental health. As such the opening of a shop in support of Samaritans couldn't be more timely.
Moreover, Pre-Loved Emporium is carving out its own niche in the town, hoping to cater for a market that is as yet not supported.
