Two Warwickshire Reform councillors expelled from party after 'betraying' voters
By James Smith 19th Feb 2026
Two Warwickshire councillors have had the whip removed today (February 19) by Reform UK after being accused of "betraying' voters.
Cllr Scott Cameron and Cllr Luke Cooper have both been kicked out of the Reform group at Warwickshire County Council as they are both reportedly considering defecting to Restore Britain.
The news was confirmed this afternoon in a statement by group and council leader Cllr George Finch.
"Cllr Cameron and Cllr Cooper have indicated that they are planning to defect to Restore Britain," he said.
"In these circumstances, it is not appropriate for them to continue to represent Reform UK or sit within our group.
"Reform UK in Warwickshire is here to deliver for residents — not to indulge in stunts designed to create headlines at the expense of local colleagues.
"I will not allow the hard work of our councillors and volunteers to be undermined."
Cllr Cooper represents Studley and Cllr Cameron Coleshill South & Arley.
Reform UK already only had minority control at Shire Hall. The group previously had 22 councillors at the county council, alongside independent Councillor Luke Shingler, who initially stood for the party but had to give up his political affiliation due to work restrictions.
With 20 councillors out of 57, they still remain the largest party at the county council.
A Reform UK spokesman added: "Councillors Cooper and Cameron have been expelled from Reform UK with immediate effect.
"We are disappointed that they have betrayed their electors and the mandate they were given in order to become affiliated with a movement that is not even registered with the Electoral Commission.
"Reform UK has a zero tolerance approach to those that plan to betray our hard working members that got them elected in the first place.
"Reform UK is the only realistic chance of fixing broken Britain and getting rid of the two party system."
