Locals have just days left to have their say on possible changes to a road outside a new Kenilworth housing estate.

Warwickshire County Council is asking for feedback on plans to reduce the speed limit on Crewe Lane from national speed limit to 30mph.

Changes could also see a 'prohibition of motor vehicles' section created outside Kenilworth Golf Club's entrance. This would mean Crewe Lane would stop being a 'through road' at the entrance to the Stoneleigh View housing estate.

The council's website explained: "As part of a planning application a request to introduce a 30mph along parts of Crewe Lane between its junctions with Glasshouse Lane and just past Lanceilotte Avenue has been received.

"Also, a further request for a short length of prohibition of motor vehicles, near a Golfing Club House, has been received."

Work on the housing estate off Crewe Lane is well underway.

A new spine road will eventually be built through the estate, which runs behind the new Kenilworth School.

The prohibition order is being sought to make Crewe Lane "restricted access, preventing through traffic and promoting walking and cycling".

The local authority added: "The road is not considered suitable for the future levels of two-way traffic that could be generated by the development."

The spine road is expected to be completed in 2026. Changes to Crewe Lane's layout would come after that.

Locals have until January 8 to respond to the consultation.
