The driver of a grey Tesla has been fined £200 and handed six points after filming the aftermath of an accident involving a bus on the A46.

Warwickshire Police's operational patrol unit officers attending to the incident - during which nobody was hurt - spotted the driver on his phone.

The force is now reminding motorists it has a "zero tolerance policy" on using phones while driving.

"This offence was recorded by officers on scene and now his £200 fine and six points are on the way in the post," a police statement said.

"I hope the video of a stationary bus was worth it.

"Please remember that any mobile phone use whilst driving is a distraction, it is a major contributory factor in many fatal and serious injury RTCs and is therefore considered one of the national fatal four.

"There is a zero tolerance policy on handheld mobile phone use whilst driving.

"The offence carries a minimum penalty of £200 fine and six points, this will impact on your insurance and if you are a new driver it will revoke your licence. Hide your phone away whilst driving."
