Two local roads near Kenilworth could get lower speed limits, if plans are signed off by the council.

Coventry City Council has unveiled plans to remove the 40mph limit on parts of Stoneleigh Road and Gibbet Hill Road, taking them back to 30mph.

The council says the change will slow traffic and make the roads better and safer for local people, cyclists and walkers.

The move comes after "concerns" raised by residents and changes to nearby speed limits, the authority added. Gibbet Hill Road only has a short section of 40mph left which will be removed under the proposal.

Stoneleigh Road would also revert to the national 30mph speed limit from the city's boundary to its junction with Kenilworth Road, if plans get the go-ahead. This part of the road mainly goes past homes, maps show.

Plans for the move can be seen on the council's website and were lodged last week, 1 August.

Any objections must be made before 22 August, the notice stated.
