Kenilworth Books has been named a 'Bookshop Champion' as part of a nationwide campaign to get people reading and shopping local.

The Talisman Square store is one of 20 champions across the country chosen to take part in Independent Bookshop Week 2026.

Running from Saturday 13 to Saturday 20 June across the UK and Ireland, the week is run by the Booksellers Association to "encourage consumers to shop for their summer reads with their local independent".

Following the announcement, Deborah Texeira of Kenilworth Books said: "Independent bookshops are more than a place that sells books - they are vital cultural anchors that aim to transform towns into vibrant, connected communities.

"They serve as essential hubs for reading for pleasure, sparking lifelong curiosity and local engagement through curated discovery and human connection.

"During Independent Bookshop Week your support ensures these vital spaces continue to grow and inspire.

"At Kenilworth Books, we live for that personal touch.

"We don't just stock shelves; we curate with heart, offering bespoke recommendations, hosting energised events, and championing local initiatives. By shopping indie, you're investing in your community."

First launched in 2006, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the campaign.

The Association said the 20 Bookshop Champions "reflect the breadth and depth of independent bookshops today, and the shared values and strengths that underpin the sector".

Emma Bradshaw, head of marketing and communications at the Booksellers Association, said: "We're honoured to announce Kenilworth Books as one of our Bookshop Champions, following an open submission process across our membership.

"The quality of entries made the selection incredibly challenging, and the final selection beautifully reflects the variety, creativity and value independent bookshops bring to readers of all ages.

"We cannot wait to see the fantastic work they do be an integral part of our celebrations."
