Students at Kenilworth School and Westwood Academy celebrate A-Level results success
Students from Kenilworth School & Sixth Form and The Westwood Academy were "delighted" to receive their A-Level results today (August 15).
In both schools within the Kenilworth Multi-Academy Trust the results represent sustained improvements overall and some outstanding individual achievements.
The results were broadly similar to those achieved in 2019, prior to the pandemic.
Among these successes are noteworthy performances from individual students, these include two students from Kenilworth School & Sixth Form, Freddie Beckett-Smith and Naomi Darnton, who together achieved a record of nine A* grades in total.
Other students achieved and exceeded their target grades despite personal challenges.
The vast majority of students have been successful in gaining offers to study in their first choice of university.
Trust CEO Hayden Abbott congratulated students from both schools and said: "I am incredibly proud to congratulate all of our A-Level students on what they have achieved.
"They have worked incredibly hard over the last two years and deserve this success.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff who have supported our students from both schools in many ways to achieve their success.
"To those who are moving on to university, apprenticeships or other ventures I wish you well in this next stage of your education or career."
The Headteacher of Kenilworth School & Sixth Form Darren Nicholas commented: "Everybody has worked hard and fully deserves this success.
"It has been a real team effort and students from Kenilworth School & Sixth Form have sustained another year of great results."
At The Westwood Academy expectations were exceeded and the A-Level exam results in 2024 have been the best that the school has seen in years.
A significant improvement over 2023 was noted in the percentage of exam passes at A* to C from 62.3 per cent to 80.8 per cent. Of the individual successes, the achievement of Violet Saunders was commendable, she achieved three straight As and secured a place at the University of Nottingham to study medicine.
Sarah Hatch, the new incoming Head at The Westwood Academy, congratulated students on their results and said: "It is impressive to see everyone's hard work and achievements recognised in these results.
"I look forward to working with the Westwood community to build on the foundation of success for future students of A-Level."
