Here are our top picks for the coming days.

1. Cinema

It is time for cinema at the Talisman Theatre this Saturday (July 6), with the Barrow Road venue this month showing 'One Life'.

The Anthony Hopkins film tells the incredible, emotional true story of Nicholas 'Nicky' Winton (Johnny Flynn), a young London broker who visits Prague in December 1938.

In a race against time, Winton convinces members of the British Committee for Refugees in Czechoslovakia to rescue hundreds of predominantly Jewish children before Nazi occupation closes the borders.

2. Notes From a Small Island

And that is not all from the Talisman this week, as its popular monthly fringe event returns to the Holiday Inn on Thursday (July 4).

Organisers said: "On this most auspicious of General Election days, join us on the 4th July for a night of theatre, folk songs and performed poetry at the Talisman Fringe.

"Peter Gillam from the Criterion Theatre, Coventry will be the host for this night of entertainment – a special opportunity to sample work from a sister theatre in the local area.

"Following the model of the Criterion’s recent Springboard Festival, the evening will involve some drama, some poetry and some music for your delectation and delight.

3. Saturday Signing

Head to Kenilworth Books on Saturday for the latest Saturday Signing event!

Come and meet Anna-Leigh Brooks and pick up a signed copy of her book – The Older Woman.
