2. Half Term History Makers

Head to Kenilworth Castle for some half term fun starting on Saturday 15 February!

Organiser said: "Join us at Kenilworth Castle this February half term for heritage-inspired hijinks and hands-on shenanigans!

"Outlaws wanted! Discover all about the legendary character of Robin Hood during an entertaining performance packed with daring stories for the whole family.

"Young lords and ladies can also test their aim with our ‘have-a-go’ archery sessions. Are you ready to join Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men?’

"Also, enjoy a whistle-stop journey of the highs, lows, and beheadings of Henry VIII (the father of Kenilworth Castle’s famous visitor, Elizabeth I) in our “What-ho Henry” show."

3. Present Laughter

The first mainstage production of the year runs at the Talisman Theatre this week.

Written in 1939 but delayed in its debut due to the Second World War, this farcical comedy has enjoyed enduring popularity through multiple revivals on stage and screen.

Under the direction of Vanessa Comer, this "absurd comedy" is the "perfect antidote to the winter blues".

Set in the 1940s, Present Laughter invites audiences into the chaotic world of Garry Essendine, an internationally renowned actor and writer (closely modelled on Coward himself) whose self-obsessed persona is as dazzling as it is unravelling.

Reflecting on the enduring appeal of Present Laughter, director Vanessa Comer shares: "Coward wrote Present Laughter as a star vehicle for himself, weaving Garry's eccentricities from his own personality and drawing inspiration for the colourful supporting cast from his inner circle.

"Delayed three years by the outbreak of WWII, the play's eventual debut was met with critical acclaim, leading to numerous revivals across stage, screen, and television."
