Small village added as potential 'new settlement' and huge development in South Warwickshire
By James Smith 17th Apr 2026
Another potential 'new settlement' has been put forward for the new South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP).
The much-delayed major planning document will ultimately govern where tens of thousands of new homes are built across Warwick and Stratford-on-Avon districts.
This is likely to include a 'new settlement', with 12 potential locations having already been shortlisted.
An update shared this week has confirmed a 13th has been added to the list as the plan nears completion.
The SWLP website shows two huge parcels of land around the village of Danzey and its station have been suggested for where the houses would be built.
One of the plots - promoted by land agents Sworders and Montagu Evans - covers 298.51 hectares of farmland.
The second covers a further 298.51 hectares and was suggested by the same firms.

An update from the SWLP team said: "The SWLP team continues to work on refining sites for the overall growth strategy for the South Warwickshire Local Plan.
"A small number of additional site submissions and boundary amendments have been received since the preferred options stage and have now been published on the SWLP interactive map.
"Included in this batch of sites is a potential new settlement location east of Danzey rail station.
"This is comprised of two additional sites (ref ID 963 and 980) which can be viewed online."
The update said if they are proposed for being built on, locals will be consulted on them at the next stage of the plan.
Alongside other consultations, Warwick and Stratford-on-Avon District Councils previously asked locals and businesses to suggest potential plots of land to be developed in the south of the county.

Having whittled down over 700 potential development sites, the local authorities have already shortlisted 36 across the two districts which could be turned into new homes and employment land.
The councils say not all the sites will be needed for new homes.
They also recently published the results of the previous public consultation which asked for feedback on each of the sites. This brought a range of responses to each specific plot of land.
Overall though, the council's report said: "Commentary from respondents revealed a significant divide between the councils' aspirations and the public's perception of the plan's feasibility, with a wide range of responses received."
Next steps for the plans will see a draft of the plan come together in May, which will then lead to another public consultation in June.
The councils then hope to submit the plan to the government for review in December.
