The show home at a 550-house estate under construction in Kenilworth is now open.

And a new junction into the Kenilworth Gate development - which has seen roadworks in place along Warwick Road for months - is now complete.

Charles Church's estate will include a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes.

The launch of the new show home earlier this month was marked by a visit from Team GB athlete, Neil Adams who is a former Judo Olympian and previously lived in the town.

Kenilworth-based firm Abode, which completed the interior design of the build, also gave a talk during the opening.

Neil Adams MBE, 1981 World Judo Champion and twice silver Olympic medallist, said: "In the years I have spent in Kenilworth and surrounding area as firstly a young athlete, then business owner and home owner, I can first hand express the pleasure it is living there.

"The community provides families all opportunities for young and growing families as well as cultural aspects, a castle no less, for all generations."

While full planning permission for the first 98 homes of the estate - which are under construction - has been granted, the developer is waiting for detailed plans for the rest of the remaining 452 to be signed off.

Warwick District Council recently released the street names for the development - with all the names representing famous faces from the town's history.

The development will eventually see another junction built along Leamington Road.

Warwickshire County Council has already signed off over £3 million to construct the junctions.

Funded by the housing developer Charles Church, £1.53million will be spent on a new junction with traffic lights on Leamington Road, followed by a further £1.23million on a priority junction onto Glasshouse Lane.

Another £307,200 will pay for a left in, left out junction onto Leamington Road, with the remaining £60,000 paying for a temporary access for the construction traffic.

The schemes will be funded by the housing developer through section 278 agreements with the council.

Sarah Preston, sales director at Charles Church Central, added: "Kenilworth Gate offers a wide range of homes for the people of the town and we're delighted to have welcomed Neil to open our new show home to the public.

"Our development in Kenilworth offers the best of luxury living with larger cities like Birmingham and Coventry nearby, with our new homes bringing a whole host of benefits – including being more energy efficient than older homes and offering an average saving of £135 per month on energy bills in comparison.

"For anyone interested in making their next big move, we'd recommend you get in touch and book a visit to speak to our expert sales teams."
